Project Information
Dam Site 12 is one of three projects included in the 2025-2029 5-yr implementation. The dam will be located in Elkhorn directly on the upper reach of the West Papillion Creek. It will control over 1,600 acres of drainage area and will reduce peak flows through Elkhorn and Omaha, as well as contributing to the flood benefits downstream through the communities of Papillion and Bellevue.
The purchase of land rights has started in order to secure the land against the development pressures from west Omaha. Final design for the project began in June 2025 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2026.
