Mad Bear Recreation Area Grand Opening

April 23 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
The Papio NRD, City of Gretna, Nebraska, and Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma representatives will celebrate the grand opening of Sergeant Mad Bear Recreation Area – the second Sarpy County flood reduction reservoir and recreation area to open in just five months.
While reducing flood risk for citizens is the reservoir’s primary job, the recreational opportunities that accompany it are a win-win for the community.
The site features:
πŸ›Ά 17-acre paddle craft-only lake
🚢🏾 One-mile loop trail
βš“ Traditional and accessible kayak/canoe launches
🎣 Accessible fishing pier and stocked fish
🧺 Picnic facilities
The recreation area is named in honor of Sergeant Mad Bear, a Pawnee Scout born in Nebraska, who was the first Native American to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor.
See you there!
